The San Luis Potosi Government is looking to attract new automotive investment from Asia to offset the cancellation of the Ford plant. San Luis Potosi's Secretary of Economic Development, Gustavo Puente, traveled to China and Singapore looking for investment among providers of the automotive industry and other sectors. Puente said that there are currently 56 Japanese companies with presence in San Luis Potosi. Although almost half of the FDI the State has received in the last 16 years has come from the U.S.
