Swedish-Japanese firm Suzuki Garphyttan opened in recent days its first Mexican production facility to supply oil tempered wire for several automotive applications.

The plant is located at the Opcion Industrial Park in the municipality of San Jose Iturbide, Guanajuato. The company invested US$ 12.7 million and recruited 47 workers for the first phase in this operation.

The 13,000 square-meters facility will be able to manufacture 6,000 metric tons of wire annually in the first stage and is expected to double its capacity by 2020, after an additional US$ 5 million investment is completed.

The prime output will be oil tempered valve quality wire for the high demands of the engine, clutch, and transmission springs industry but we will also produce regular wire for other spring applications.

Suzuki Garphyttan AB was formerly known as Haldex Garphyttan AB before Suzuki Metal Industry Co., Ltd. acquired it. The company was founded in 1906 and is based in Garphyttan, Sweden with operations in Sweden, Germany, the United States, China, and the United Kingdom.
