Air Canada will offer 1,400 extra seats for one month, starting in July, in its flights to Toronto, Vancouver and Montreal taking off from Mexico City International Airport (AICM). Luis Noriega, Director of Air Canada Mexico, Central America and Cuba, assured that after the Canadian visa was no longer required for Mexicans, the demand for flights to Canada went up by 35%. Canada expects to welcome over 250,000 tourists, but this number might exceed the record from 2008, the year the Country had the most visitors. In 2009 tourism to Canada dropped by 55% with the implementation of the visa for Mexicans.
