Mexico´s third customs office with the highest cargo activity is 98% done with the implementation of the Customs Technological Integration Project (PITA). With the help of this project, the Tax Administration Service (SAT) aims to speed up commercial crossings.

However, PITA won´t just speed up aspects of the commercial crossings as it will also add more video surveillance cameras and implement the use of radio frequency identification technology.

"We continue testing with carriers and customs agents. Shortly, we will be implementing this new technological system in the cargo area," said Enrique Orantes, Customs Administrator of Tijuana, Baja California, the first area in Mexico where PITA will start.

The SAT has been installing this project in the 49 customs of the country since 2016, with the support of Sixsigma Networks Mexico, María Asunción Aramburuzabala and IBM de México.
