Mexico’s fiscal consolidation

Jose Antonio Meade, Secretary of Finance and Public Credit, assured that Mexico has given signs of its fiscal consolidation process, and therefore he dismissed the need to create a Fiscal Council. The trajectory of debt shifted from representing a 50.2% proportion of the 2016 GDP, to be under 50% in 2017. Good fiscal and monetary policies will help face the volatility ahead while giving the economy a more flexible structure, more modern, where more growth sources are present, he said.
