Agri-food industry, third largest exporter

Avocado sales grew by 52% from January to April 2017 and beer sales grew 28.7%, thus driving the Agri-food industry to the third place in Mexico's top exporters. This sector is valued at US$11 billion (a 9.37% growth rate compared to 2016), only behind the manufacturing and automotive sectors, according to data reported by Banxico. This is due to an expansion in beer manufacture in Mexico, which went 30% up between 2010 and 2016. Avocado sales, on the other hand, increased due to the fact that last January the demand rose 20% in the U.S. market; but also Canada, Japan, France and El Salvador are requesting larger volumes of this fruit form Mexico.
