New Jersey-based manufacturer Weiss-Aug Co. Inc. opened its first production facility outside the United States in Apodaca, Nuevo Leon, where the company plans to invest US$ 15 million in a three-year period.

From a 30,000-square-foot plant the company will provide plastic components for medical equipment, automotive and appliances sectors.

For that end Weiss-Aug recruited around 45 workers to develop its first stage of operations, a figure that will triple over the next three years.

Elisabeth Weissenrieder-Bennis, Director of Strategic Planning at Weiss-Aug, revealed to local media they visited Queretaro, Tijuana and Mexicali to explore options for the production site, but the qualified labor, good infrastructure and closeness to the U.S. border weighted in favor of Apodaca.
