Sales of electric, hybrid cars grow at three-digit pace in Mexico

Last April, 916 hybrid or full electric vehicles were sold in the Mexican market, an increase of 111.5% if compared to the fourth month of 2016. From that figure, 25 units were full electric, while the remaining 891 vehicles were hybrids versions, according to data from the Mexican Automotive Industry Association.

During the first four months of 2017 a total 3,404 low-or-zero emission units were delivered by Mexican auto dealers, a skyrocketing 157.3% hike against the same period of 2016. Just 106 units were full-electric while the rest 3,298 vehicles were hybrid models.

A 43.4% of sales in Mexico took place at the country’s capital. In April 422 units, 14 full-electric and 408 hybrids, were sold in Mexico City, a 112.1% increase. From January through April 1,424 hybrid cars and 52 full-electric units were sold in Mexico City for a total 1,476 vehicles, a 146.1% increase compared to same period of 2016.
