Sandhar Technologies Limited, an India-based automotive supplier with aluminum pressure die casting operations in Mexico, announced will supply two components to the wiper system assembly of the Tesla Model 3.

“This is an emblematic project for us because we are supplying two parts from Mexico, used for the wiper system. We are very proud to contribute with our job in this next generation of cars,” said the company in a statement.

Sandhar, which specializes in automotive latches and lock systems, recently expanded its product portfolio, by venturing into wiper blades, fuel pumps and starter motors.

In February 2015, the company opened a production site in San Jose Iturbide, Guanajuato, a city in the heart of the Bajio automotive corridor in central Mexico.

According to its website, Sandhar includes Tier-1 suppliers like TRW, Autoliv, Bosch, Trelleborg and Saint Gobain in its customer portfolio.

Earlier this month, the first production-ready Tesla Model 3 rolled out of the Fremont, California plant. Another 100 cars are slated for production in August, then 1,500 in September. Tesla CEO Elon Musk projects the company will be building 5,000 cars a week by the end of December.

At US$ 35,000, the Model 3 is the cheapest Tesla yet and is considered a key product by the company to reach mass-market sales volume. The unit has a 215-mile range on a single battery charge, making it a serious option for many American families.
