Japanese automotive firms see opportunity in Mexico

Around 1,100 Japanese companies from the automotive sector have become installed in Mexico, thanks to the growth of this industry across the nation, assured the General Director of Japan External Trade Organization (Jetro), Tadashi Minemura. During the closing ceremony of the first ProMexico–Jetro Business Encounter of the Automotive Industry, with the objective of strengthening the chain value of the Mexican automotive sector, the Director explained that this is the first business encounter focused on promoting that companies already established in Mexico become providers for first-level assembly companies. The encounter had the participation of 17 buyer companies, among them BMW, Ford, General Motors and ZF, in addition to over 67 automotive provider companies established in Mexico, who had 330 business meetings altogether.
