Danish electronics manufacturer GPV opens plant in Guadalajara

GPV International A/S, Denmark’s largest electronic manufacturing services (EMS) company, officially opened its full-size production plant at the Pinar industrial park in Guadalajara, Jalisco.

The 4,500 square-meter facility already employs around 80 people and the company expects to reach 350 employees by 2020. Also, an additional 1,500 square-meter expansion is already in the works.

The company started operations by the end of 2016 with a complete surface mount technology (SMT) production line based on state-of-the-art Industry 4.0 technology, while a second line is expected to become operational in the coming months.

“We have not come to Mexico to get cheap labor. We have come because of the good location, attractive framework conditions for companies and not least due to the easy access to many skilled and well-educated people,” said CEO Bo Lybæk at the opening ceremony.

“We can ascertain from personal experience that the educational level at the universities in Guadalajara is very high. We seek to match that by offering attractive conditions of employment, such as life assurance, canteen scheme, transportation of all employees, etc. We are also actively engaged in helping the victims of the recent earthquakes in Mexico”, Lybæk added.

GPV is specialized in the production of mechatronics. The company has built up a niche and supplies low and medium-volume customized solutions with a high degree of flexibility, including electronic sub-assembly solutions and finished goods (box-build), and manufactures a total of roughly 5,500 electronics products for about 300 customers.
