The South Korea-based manufacturer started operations in Guanajuato back in 2013 with a US$ 25.4 million investment, the company announced at the time. The steel processing center currently operates at 425,000 metric tons per year capacity.

Posco’s Mexican subsidiary comprises two continuous galvanizing lines in Altamira, Tamaulipas, and four automotive steel plate production centers, one of those being the Celaya facility which supplies sheets to General Motors, Honda and Mazda stamping plants.

Other Posco clients in Mexico include automakers such as Nissan, Ford, FCA and Volkswagen; Tier 1 suppliers Gestamp and Magna, and appliances manufacturers LG, Samsung and Whirlpool, but all those companies are served from other plants.
