The assembly plant of Volkswagen in Puebla reported an increase in production of 16.9% from January through September, while exports recorded the same percentage variation in that period.

According to the Mexican Automotive Industry Association (AMIA), through the ninth month of 2017, the assembled units in the Puebla factory totaled 357,152, which meant a difference of 51,630 cars in the same period of 2016.

Also between January and September the German firm exported 288,193 units, compared to the 246,464 vehicles of last year.

In September alone, Volkswagen de Mexico assembled 34,321 units, 180.5% more than the 12,237 units in the same month of 2016. The difference is due in large part to the fact that in September last year the plant did not operate at full capacity, due to the tooling process for the production of the all-new Tiguan.
