SaarGummi Group, a rubber components manufacturer for the automotive industry, announced it will invest an additional US$ 36 million to open its second manufacturing facility in Queretaro. Along with the expansion, the company plans to recruit 1,100 additional workers, said SaarGummi officials at a press conference.

The SaarGummi Group, a company headquartered in Luxemburg acquired by the Chinese state-owned corporation CQLT in 2011, started operations this year in Queretaro with a workforce of 300 to manufacture rubber profiles and seals for doors and trunk.

Achim Gier, Operations Director of SaarGummi Group, mentioned that the company's operations in Mexico respond to demands from customers such as Volkswagen and Mercedes Benz, to whom it will start supplying components in 2018 and 2019.

One of the first vehicles to feature SaarGummi products is the next-generation Volkswagen Jetta, which is set to be unveiled at the Detroit Auto Show in January 2018.
