More than 10,000 jobs could be lost due to the cancellation of one shift at the Ford Stamping and Assembly Plant in Hermosillo, Sonora, and not just 600 as the union said, according to local media citing automotive suppliers.

By canceling the night shift, companies that manufacture supplies for Ford should also cut shifts and therefore jobs. "If you make the sum of all suppliers and multiply by 30%, it's not just the direct jobs that will be liquidated, now there are indirect jobs and middle managers, who represent 15 to 20% of the workforce," said one company executive.

Among those companies prone to see a decline in production are Lear Corporation, Faurecia, Martin Rea, Flex & Gate and Grupo Antolin, to name a few.
