Kurota Seiki-Seisakusho, a Japanese manufacturer of aluminum parts, confirmed plans to expand operations at its production site in Aguascalientes, Mexico, state government officials and company executives announced in a press conference.

The company will invest US$ 60 million which will increase the manufacturer’s total investment in Mexico to US$ 165 million, while its workforce is expected to grow from the current 140 employees up to 200.

The company started operations in mid-2016 manufacturing aluminum components for engines and brakes. Kurota provides parts for Tier 1 auto suppliers as well as original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). Bosch, Honda and Nissan are among its customers in Mexico, but it also exports to the rest of North America.

The added production capacity will be destined in part to Daimler’s new assembly plant in Aguascalientes, where Mercedes-Benz cars will be built by the end of 2018.
