Hidrosur builds US$ 60 million fuel storage facility in Yucatan

Hidrocarburos del Sureste (Hidrosur), a Mexican fuels distributor based in Yucatan, in recent days broke ground to build a US$ 60 million storage facility in the port of Progreso, the first hydrocarbon logistics platform in Mexico operated by private capital.

CEO Eloy Montanez explained that the project is developed on four hectares in the Progreso dock where five tanks with capacity for 485,000 barrels altogether will store gasoline, diesel and jet fuel. The facility is expected to become fully operational by May 2018.

More than 600 qualified workers were hired for the construction, said the official.

Carlos Calderon Carrillo, Progreso port Operations Manager, explained that the new facility will increase the operations of hydrocarbon handling in the port by 30%.
