Employees and managers of a Lear Corp. plant in Ramos Arizpe, Coahuila, received from J.D. Power a distinction for the manufacture of the best seats in the sedan segment, which are included in Chevrolet Cruze vehicles, according to the JD Power Seat Quality and Satisfaction Study 2017.

Lear Corporation Ramos II, located in the Amistad Aeropuerto Industrial Park, has a staff of 900 people which manufactures seats for the Cruze and the Equinox SUV.

It is worth noting that the plant won the award in the first year of operations of this program, for which the employees of the production line trained during six months.

“This is a recognition that not many plants have, not only of Lear, but of all the seat manufacturers in the world. There are companies that put all their effort, all their focus, for a long time to achieve this recognition, but you achieved it in the first year of the launch of this program,” said plant manager Alberto Sánchez.

A new program in the works

During the ceremony, managers of Lear Corporation announced that the company obtained a third project that will lead it to install two additional production lines and the hiring of 140 workers, of which 40 have already been signed. Overall, an additional US$ 8 million investment will be applied in the facility.

The officials detailed that it was in February of last year when this contract was awarded so they immediately began the preparations, since they were also in charge of the prototypes, a job that is usually done at the company's R&D facilities in Detroit.

Although the managers did not provide further details, it was learned that the seats will be supplied to the General Motors plant in Ramos Arizpe, which is working on the launch of a new utility vehicle whose pre-production will begin later this year.
