Mexican exports to Canada up 4.3%; trade surplus hikes 13.7%

Mexican exports to Canada grew 7.4% last February compared to the previous month, after going from US$ 1.28 billion in the first month of 2018 to US$ 1.38 billion in February, according to official figures that Statistics of Canada released on Thursday.

Last February's figure exceeded in 4.3% that of the same month of 2017, when Mexican exports reached US$ 1.32 billion.

Meanwhile, Canadian exports to Mexico decreased 4.1% from January to February this year, going from US$ 591.5 million in the first month of the year to US$ 567.3 million in February.

The trade balance with Canada continues to be favorable to Mexico with US$ 809.4 million, which represents an increase of 13.7% compared to same month of 2017, when it was of US$ 711.4 million, according to Canada’s official figures.
