Given that Mazda Motor de Mexico already manufactures a vehicle with similar characteristics for Toyota in its Guanajuato plant, the Hiroshima-based automaker decided to introduce to the Mexican market a new Mazda2 now in sedan version.

With the Mazda2 the Japanese brand seeks to compete from a better position in a segment dominated by the KIA Rio, Hyundai Accent and Ford Fiesta, all of those preferred in sedan versions by Mexican consumers.

Mazda said it would release the prices, equipment levels and technical details in the coming weeks, however you can get an idea of those details with the data that Toyota has released about the Yaris sedan, which is produced in the same assembly line .

The Mazda2 will be available at auto dealerships starting July, at the same time that its Toyota twin will begin to be marketed in the U.S.
