Tequila Patron, pioneer in the ultra-premium segment of spirits, recently broke ground to build a US$ 120 million distillery in Atotonilco, Jalisco.

Company officials expect the first stage of the new facility to be completed by the end of 2019 with operations officially starting in early 2020 with a 3-million-liter yearly production capacity.

The project will generate six production modules through 78 ovens, 408 fermentation vats and 114 alembics, as well as the creation of 700 direct jobs.

"The process of handicraft production will always be maintained in small lots of high quality that has characterized us. In addition, the facilities will reflect the company's commitment to the environment, as it has a state-of-the-art design in relation to energy efficiency," said David Rodríguez, general director of Patron México.

This is the first significant attempt by Tequila Patron to ramp up production since it was acquired by Bacardi for US$ 5.1 billion.
