France-based premium glass bottle manufacturer Saverglass works on the final details to inaugurate a new plant in the Mexican state of Jalisco, its first in North America.

The company plans to officially start operations on June 2 at its new US$ 120 million facility in Acatlan de Juarez near Guadalajara, the state capital, to supply the growing premium and super-premium wine and spirits industries. Around 380 job positions will be created once the plant becomes fully operational.

Construction started a year ago. The new Acatlan plant gives Saverglass direct access to shipping routes to the western and eastern United States, according to the company. It is also close to Mexico’s Tequila producers.

The company, whose annual sales totaled US$ 566 million last, plans to manufacture 120 million bottles during the first year, boosting overall annual production to 700 million bottles over time.

The Jalisco facility will be Saverglass’ fifth in the world. Three other plants are located in France and one more in Dubai.
