Wittmann Battenfeld GmbH, an Austrian manufacturer of injection molding machines and automated solutions, is increasing floor space by a third at its subsidiary in Mexico where business growth rates have been well above 20% over the last few years, according to its officials.

“Although the prospects for the future were viewed with some skepticism at the beginning of the year, due the strained political relationship with the neighboring U.S.A. But this skepticism proved groundless within a very short time, and Mexican investment activities continued unabated throughout the whole year,” said the company in a statement.

Wittmann Battenfeld is adding 10,250 square feet in Queretaro, mainly in the office area. The building will cover 32,300 square feet when work is finished on schedule in July, Rodrigo Munoz CEO of the Mexico operations for Wittmann Battenfeld, said.

In addition to more office space, the headquarters has a new training area, equipped with a servo-hydraulic SmartPower and an all-electric EcoPower machine. The company's W8 series robots are also available at the facility for demonstration purposes.

It’ll be the fourth expansion since the subsidiary started operations in 1998. The company employs 75 in Queretaro.

The company has other sales and service facilities in México City, Guadalajara, Monterrey, Reynosa, Chihuahua, Ciudad Juarez and Tijuana.
