A new industrial conglomerate is seen as the next trigger of economic and educational development in one of the most marginalized municipalities in the State of Mexico. It is the Strategic Center for Environmental Recovery of the East (CERAO), which will be built around the municipality of Chimalhuacan and which aims to generate around 40,000 permanent jobs in the area. The project will occupy an area of 200 hectares, with 150 of them allocated for the construction of an industrial park, 30 for athletic facilities and 20 for the construction of the Polytechnic University of Chimalhuacan. This project will be built on a US$60 million private investment, creating 15,000 temporary jobs. In the meantime, the Polytechnic University will offer spots to up to 6,000 students in the municipality.
