BMW Group Latin America announced that Maru Escobedo has been named new CEO of BMW Group Mexico as of last Thursday. Escobedo will report directly to Alexander W. Wehr, President and CEO of BMW Group Latin America, an area that integrates under his direction the regions of Mexico, Argentina, Brazil and other importing markets.
Thus, each of the markets in Latin America will be chaired by its own CEO: Helder Boavida, CEO of BMW Group Brazil; Rolf Epp, CEO of BMW Group Argentina; Antonio Antela, CEO of import markets and Maru Escobedo, CEO of BMW Group Mexico.
These movements are intended to promote greater integration and strengthening in the region, as well as homologation in all areas.
"These changes have a clear focus on seeking a much more integrated and efficient organization that allows us to work in all areas with much more defined and aligned objectives," explained Alexander W. Wehr.
Escobedo has worked at the company for 19 years. She has a degree in Economics from the Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City, and has a specialty in Economics for Importing and Exporting Markets from the Instituto Tecnologico Autonomo de Mexico (ITAM). Previously, she was director of MINI Mexico and to date she had served as director of Sales, Planning and Operations for BMW in Mexico and Import Markets in Latin America.
