In their search to diversify export destinations, businessmen from the western part of the nation are working on a project to open a commercial and logistic bridge between Mexico and Central America.

The objective will focus on replacing between 15 and 20% of the imports that the Central American countries make with the United States, around US$50 billion as a whole, with Mexican products.

Out of the US$142.4 billion of the value of Mexico's total exports in the accumulated January-April period of this year, those sent to Central America represent just 1.25%, according to data from the Ministry of Economy.
