The Center for Engineering and Industrial Development (CIDESI) in Queretaro, Central Mexico, purchased and installed a Hot Isostatic Pressing (HIP) system from Quintus Technologies. The system, a QIH-15L, is recognized as the best quality system for performing HIP of advanced materials for demanding applications, especially within the aerospace, automotive, and energy sectors.
CIDESI is one of Mexico’s top research and innovation organizations, playing a key role in helping the country’s industry generate technological breakthroughs as well as educate the next generation of engineers for future challenges.
The Quintus HIP system installed at CIDESI features a work zone of 7.32 inches (186 mm) in diameter and 19.69 inches (500 mm) in height; an operating temperature of 2,552° F (1,400° C); and pressure of 207 MPa (30,000 psi).
Supporting advanced process development and production at CIDESI, the HIP is equipped with Quintus’ patented Uniform Rapid Cooling (URC) technology.

Recently, CIDESI and other institutions, including CONACYT, created the National Consortium in Additive Manufacturing. The current infrastructure of members (laser cladding, DMLS, thermal spray and more) will be increased in the near future with several systems that use the Additive Manufacturing technologies.
