Canada will join Mexico, the European Union and Asia in a new common strategy to deal with the possible imposition of U.S. tariffs on imports of cars and auto parts.

Japan and the European Union (EU) will meet in Geneva, Switzerland, together with the trade deputy ministers of Canada, Mexico, the EU countries, Japan and South Korea to discuss the threat of the Donald Trump administration against the automotive section.

The Deputy Minister of International Trade, Timothy Sargent, will attend the meeting on behalf of Canada, according to statements by a Canadian official to The Canadian Press.
