Despite a 3.7% decline in auto sales in the U.S. market during July, demand for light trucks remains strong, which has boosted orders for certain models such as the Audi Q5 SUV, now making up for one third of total sales for the German automaker.

The consumers’ appetite for light trucks also boosted sales of the Jeep Compass and the Dodge Journey. Both models, built in Toluca, saw its deliveries hike at two-digit pace in July.

However, the lower demand of passenger cars doesn’t seem to have an impact on sales of certain vehicles in that segment such as the Ford Fiesta and the Nissan Sentra, two models that are selling better than last year so far.

The following report does not necessary reflects that each vehicle sold from certain model was built in Mexico, as marked in those particular cases. Automakers constantly mix domestic and overseas supplies from several countries to meet U.S. demand.
