SSA Mexico, a subsidiary of US-based ports operator SSA Marine Inc., announced the beginning of operations of the global shipping company Hapag-Lloyd, which will start a new container cargo line service to the port of the Tuxpan Port Terminal (TPT).
The M/V GENOA V-004E will be the first vessel of the Atlantic Loop 4 (AL4) service to call this port, starting on August 13.
The above, as part of a direct route from various terminals in Europe to the Gulf of Mexico.
The first vessel to arrive that forms part of this itinerary will be the M / V GENOA V-004E, which will connect the United States and northern Europe, with a rotation through the ports of Bremerhaven, Antwerp, Le Havre, Tuxpan, Altamira, Houston, New Orleans and London.
SSA Mexico, which operates TPT, said that it reached the agreement to integrate the port of Tuxpan to the service "Atlantic Loop 4 (AL4)", by placing the site as the first direct stop from Europe without previous landings.
“Hapag-Lloyd made the decision to start the service, due to the high technological level of TPT, for its operational efficiency, the sufficient supply of refrigerated containers, as well as for the road that connects the port of Tuxpan, with the region’s most important commercial areas in the Valley of Mexico and the Bajio automotive cluster,” said the company in a statement.
Tuxpan Port Terminal is the most modern port terminal in the country, with state-of-the-art technology, equipment and operating systems. It also has a privileged location at just 293 kilometers from Mexico City and 212 km from Arco Norte, which is a strategic position for the connectivity to the Valley of Mexico and the Bajio area.
The facility is developed in 33-hectares, with expansion capabilities. Its infrastructure includes a 556-meter berth and navigation channel with 15-meter depth, latest generation Super Post Panamax cranes, capable of handling vessels of up to 11,600 TEUs, fully automated yard cranes (ASC), for faster, more precise and safer operations and an annual dynamic capacity of 710,000 TEUs.
