Mexico’s heavy truck production hikes 19% in June, 10.9% during first half of 2018

The National Association of Buses, Trucks and Tractor Trucks Producers (ANPACT) reported that last June the production of heavy vehicles in Mexico was 15,919 units, an increase of 19.1% over the same month of 2017.

In the sixth month of 2018 a total of 13,374 units were exported, which meant an increase of 37.1% compared to the same month of the previous year.

Regarding the total figures from the first half of 2018, the production was 76,346 units, a figure that represents an increase of 10.9% if compared with the 68,830 vehicles produced during the same six-month period of 2017.

However, the half-year figure is 23,987 units lower, or 23.9%, if compared to the first half of 2015, year in which the industry registered its last production record.

Regarding the exports of the first half of 2018, these were 65,004 units, which represents a 28.1% hike compared to the same period of 2017. In contrast to the record figures of 2015, exports up to June 2018 registered a decrease of 24.2% or 20,843 units.
