Last week, officials from Japan-based electronic components manufacturer Siix EMS broke ground at the Colinas industrial park in San Luis Potosi to build its third production facility in Mexico.

According to a statement by local authorities, the company plans to invest US$ 12 million and the opening of 500 jobs positions in order to start operations. The plant will be operational in August 2019, according to the schedule.

Siix EMS first started operations in September 2013 at the same premises with a US$ 6 million investment and around 450 workers. By 2015, the company announced the construction of a second facility, which started operations in late October 2017, after a US$ 35 million investment and the opening of 550 additional job positions.

The 21,000 sq.-mt facility has two stories with enough space to shelter 44 Surface-mount technology (SMT) machines and 60 assembly lines. Back then company officials said that, although the plant will be dedicated to serve de auto industry, it wasn’t ruled out to seek businesses from others sectors.

The company produces printed circuit boards for Tier 1 automotive suppliers, as manufacturers of lighting solutions and instrument panels. Its components can be found in vehicles of the main global manufacturers such as GM, Ford, Nissan, Honda and Toyota.
