AMLO unveils border fiscal plan to Governors in northern states

Northern Mexico Governors met this morning with president-elect Andre Manuel Lopez Obrador (AMLO) to analyze his plan for the border once he takes office next December.
During the meeting at Lopez Obrador transition office, he ratified his intention to lower the Value Added Tax (VAT) in border communities from 16% to 8%, to reduce the Income Tax to 20% and to double the minimum wage in this region. The changes will start on 2019.
The governors said president-elect explained the mechanism to implement these economic changes.
During his campaign Lopez Obrador also said the Special Tax on Services and Production (IEPS) will be cut to lower the price of the gasoline, diesel, and electricity in border cities.
The six Governors attended to the meeting: Claudia Pavlovich from Sonora; Jaime Rodriguez Calderon from Nuevo Leon; Francisco Garcia Cabeza de Vaca from Tamaulipas; Javier Corral Jurado from Chihuahua; Francisco Vega from Baja California, and Miguel Riquelme from Coahuila.
