Walbar Engine Components, an Arizona-based parts manufacturer for the aerospace industry, recently inaugurated its second production facility in the port city of Guaymas, Sonora, northern Mexico.

The company invested US$ 10 million to build the new 35,000-square-foot premises at the Roca Fuerte industrial park, in order to have more room for its operations, which have experienced growth at double-digit pace over the last year, according to a statement.

The new plant will house both new operations and some production work shifted from the 70,000 sq.-ft. original facility, which opened back in 2016. As result of the expansion, Walbar’s workforce in Guaymas increased to 300 strong.

At the ceremony, Tim Grein, president and CEO, said that with this investment the company is developing one of the most successful cases of components manufacturers for aerospace turbines in the world.

Grein explained that in 2018 the company's sales have increased more than 25% and estimated that by 2019 they will grow an additional 30%.

“We have made contracts that will remain in force until 2022 or possibly further, for which we have invested more than US$ 3 million in equipment and facilities,” he said.

Grein said the company is planning an additional plant in Phoenix in coming months because its customers are asking for products that can only be made in the United States.
