The Mexican liquid sugar producer Sucroliq's plant in Irapuato, Guanajuato, is the only one of its kind, worldwide, to fully automate its processes, which generate around 150,000 liters of liquid sugar a day.

This was achieved by implementing Industry 4.0 and automation solutions from the German automation company Siemens, such as the SIMATIC PCS 7 process control system, the TIA-Star Engine Control Center, and Profibus and Profinet engineering and communication network services.

The company also pointed out in a statement that the level of efficiency and control allows to monitor the 10 areas of the plant from the screen of a smartphone.

“The Industry 4.0 technology that Siemens installed offers levels of efficiency and control of the processes that no sugar factory has in the country,” said Enrique Bojórquez Valenzuela, president of Sucroliq.

He added that the alliance with Siemens was due to the fact that the food industry demands high quality standards.

The main technology used in this plant, whose total investment was of US$7.5 million, is SIMATIC PCS 7, developed by Siemens, and which consists of a solution that integrates everything necessary to completely and safely automate the entire production process.
