Enel Green Power to build US$ 160-million solar park in Tlaxcala

Enel Green Power (EGP) plans to invest US$ 160 million to develop the Magdalena 2 project, a 231.8-MW solar park in Tlaxcala state, central Mexico, Governor Marco Antonio Mena said in a statement.

EGP is a renewable energy subsidiary of Enel, an Italian firm dedicated to the development of infrastructure for the distribution of electricity and gas. The company is currently one of the biggest players in Mexico’s the renewable energy sector.

Scheduled to come online in mid-2019, the facility will comprise of 550,000 solar panels, according to Paolo Romanacci, EGP's General Director for Mexico and Central America. Around 700 temporary jobs will be created during the construction phase.
