After an image recently circulated around different San Luis Potosi media outlets of what was allegedly the first BMW 3 Series sedan manufactured in the Mexican plant, the communication area of the company confirmed to local media that it was, in fact, a pre-series or pre-production model.

According to officials, they are testing both production processes and the result of these during this stage, which is a small batch of vehicles that are also tested to detect possible glitches before the final product reaches the market.

These tests are also meant to standardize both the processes and the quality of the vehicles so that they meet the same standards as those produced in China or Germany.

The communication department also confirmed that the date to inaugurate the San Luis Potosi plant was already defined, which is settled for June 6, 2019.
