We are still four years away from the kickoff of operations at Mexico City's New International Airport, (NAICM), and there is already much expectation about the benefits it will generate regarding cargo services. Víctor Mejía, VP of Avianca Cargo, remarked that this project might be the opportunity that Mexico City and the whole Country were expecting to become a consolidated Cargo Hub. The project must be comprehensive and improve the entire foreign trade supply chain, thus achieving more and better cargo management for both imports and exports, since NAICM will be six times the size of the current Airport and the only facilities outside of the U.S. with capacity to operate three tracks simultaneously. In order to accomplish Mexico's consolidation as a hub, it is necessary to improve all means of transportation, added Mr. Mejia.
