The Mexican aerospace industry aims to export US$12 billion to the world by 2020. If said goal is achieved, the industry's exports would grow 57%, compared to those in 2017, according to a presentation given by Gerardo Lizcano, general director of the Federacion Mexicana de la Industria Aeroespacial (FEMIA).

"We aim to move from the 12th exporting country to the 10th in 2020, with what we have, we believe that those objectives are achievable, the agreement [USMCA] will give more certainty to the people within the sector," said Lizcano. He explained that Mexico's leap to the top ten of the most important countries in aircraft manufacturing can absolutely happen.

In 2012, Mexico’s aerospace industry increased its exports by 50%, as the country was able to attract investments. Likewise, it's expected that by 2020, the factories installed in Mexico will generate up to 110,000 jobs.

"It is expected that, in the next 20 years, we’ll produce twice as many commercial aircraft, compared to the currently available fleet," Lizcano added.
