Chinese speaker manufacturer Sonavox opens new plant in Tlaxcala

Sonavox Electronics México, a subsidiary of Suzhou Sonavox Electronics Co. Ltd. in recent days inaugurated its production facility in the municipality of Huamantla, Tlaxcala, where it will manufacture speakers for several automakers.

The company invested US$4.5 million and recruited 45 workers to set up its first phase of operations, with an annual production capacity of 6 million pieces. Total yearly output is expected to reach 10 million speakers once the facility is fully operational.

Company officials said at the opening ceremony that Sonavox market share in the Chinese market is around 35% while worldwide share is 12%. Sonavox speakers can be found in vehicles from Audi, Volkswagen, General Motors, Ford and BMW.
