Production of new small Ford truck to be allocated in Hermosillo, says report

A new report by car enthusiast website Jalopnik says that production of the new small unibody truck Ford Motor Company is developing will begin in Hermosillo, Sonora in late 2021, using updated engines and powertrains already featured in the Ford Fusion, which is currently built at the same facility.

Citing multiple sources, the report says the pickup will share the same powertrain and wheelbase of another crossover also under development. This rumor coincides with previous reports that the Ford Fusion will be turned into a crossover, but will keep the same nameplate.

The truck, which will be front-wheel drive and will only come as four-door model. 

The report also confirms there will be a hybrid version, but the standard engine will be a 2.0-liter EcoBoost turbo likely sourced from the Chihuahua Engine Plant.
