For the second year in a row, Audi Mexico exceeded its production goal by building a total 173,550 Q5 SUVs at its San José Chiapa plant in the state of Puebla.

This figure represents a production increase of 9.5% over the previous year, the German premium automaker said in a statement, although it did not specify what its actual goal was.

“Audi Mexico has developed successfully from its first year of production until now. We value the work and dedication of our employees and we will continue to make our contribution to the international competitiveness of the Audi Group,” said Andreas Lehe, who just took over as president of Audi Mexico.

In 2017, its first whole year of operations, the plant produced a total of 158,550 units. Such volume exceeded by 5.7% the company's 2017 production goal, which was 150,000 units.
