Germany-based manufacturer of precision tools Mapal, through its Mexican subsidiary Mapal-Frhenosa, recently inaugurated a new production facility in the municipality of El Marqués, in the central state of Querétaro, local media reported.

The company invested US$ 2.5 million and opened 120 job positions, among technicians, engineers and administrative staff to start up this plant, which will initially focus on producing cutting tools for the automotive and aerospace industries.

The plant, located at the ConĂn industrial park, still has space available for the installation of new machinery and enough land to expand if the demand for products requires so.

The new production complex will follow the patterns and processes that are implemented in the plants of the firm in Germany, said Mapal-Frhenosa general director, Lázaro Garza Dávila.

“Since its inception, our plant in Mexico seeks to meet and maintain the same efficiency and quality as our parent company (..) we are proud to work together in a company of such high standards,” he added.

“We firmly believe in the future of Mapal in Mexico and especially in the Queretaro area, since it is an area with a lot of growth not only for our traditional customers, but also for potential clients in the aerospace industry,” said Mapal global president Jochen Kress at the opening ceremony.

Mapal-Frhenosa emerged in 2004 after Mapal acquired the Frhenosa group, a Monterrey company dedicated to the distribution of precision tools for the metal machining and cutting industry.

Globally, the company has more than 5,000 employees and more than EUR 700 million sales a year.
