MEXICO — Mexico's year-on-year inflation would have slowed until the first half of February due to a drop in LP gas prices and some agricultural products, especially tomato and chilli, according to a Reuters’ poll. The median of the forecasts of eleven specialists yielded a rate of 4.07% for biweekly interannual inflation, below the 4.21% of the second half of January.

If the projection is confirmed, it would be its lowest level since the second half of December 2016, when it was 3.24%.

In the fortnight, the prices would have grown 0.12%, while for the underlying index the median of the projections showed a rate of 0.25%, according to a survey. For the interannual core inflation, the estimates were of a rate of 3.54%.

Instituto nacional de estadĂsticas INEGI will shortly publish the behavior of the National Consumer Price Index during the first half of February.
