MEXICO CITY – The undersecretary of Comunicaciones y Transportes, Carlos Morán Moguel, informed that the "design engineering of the terminal and runways" of the Santa Lucia military air base has been put in place for the purpose of carrying out the Federal Government project and turn it into a civil and military airport to relieve the current air saturation of Valle de México.

According to information from site a21, Moral Moguel confirmed the participation of 500 engineers from different specialized units of Secretaría de la Defensa Nacional (Sedena) which will work in 3 phases of engineering: conceptual, basic and detail. The first, where the needs of the project are established, is already concluded; therefore Sedena will proceed to execute the second phase that deals with the calculations in the field.

The official revealed that Servicios a la Navegación del Espacio (Seneam) is the agency in charge of developing the studies for the redesign of the airspace.   Therefore, along with the works of track planning and terminal, Seneam will work on the development of possibilities that allow the interaction of the military base, the Airport of Mexico City and that of Toluca.

"On how the part of the airspaces will be handled, we already have several alternatives. At the moment we know that it will not vary much in Toluca, the alignment and orientation, is perfectly compatible with the airport proposal designed, "added Morán Moguel.

Thus, with the aerial and land part under development, the undersecretary of SCT mentioned that they are confident that the airport will be ready in three years.
