Industrial real estate company Prologis recently broke ground for the construction of a build-to-suit (BTS) logistics facility for multinational home appliance manufacturer Whirlpool in Apodaca, Nuevo Leon.
The 587,563 square foot property will be built on 33 acres in Prologis Park Apodaca. It will serve as the national distribution center for Whirlpool’s entire portfolio of products and spare parts throughout Mexico and the northern Latin American region.
Neither the amount of investment allocated in this project nor the number of job positions to be opened along with it were disclosed.
“We are investing in the efficiency of the supply chain to meet our consumers’ needs,” said Eduardo Elizondo, Operations Vice President, Whirlpool México. Apodaca is located in the heart of the busiest industrial corridor in the Monterrey metropolitan area and provides access to the area’s main transportation networks.
“Our partnership with Whirlpool to deliver a modern, efficient build-to-suit logistics platform is a testament to the growing consumer base in Mexico and the need for high-quality buildings in one of Mexico’s most in-demand locations,” said Luis Gutierrez, President, Prologis Latin America. “We are proud to work with a multinational customer such as Whirlpool and enable its supply chain to get closer to the end consumer.”
The ceremony was attended by Apodaca Mayor César Garza, Whirlpool Mexico operations vice president Eduardo Elizondo and Prologis vice president for Monterrey Federico Cantú, among others.
