Chihuahua and Baja California lead exports in Mexico

MEXICO – Chihuahua and Baja California led exports of products from Mexico in the fourth quarter of 2018, reported Instituto Nacional de Estadística y Geografía (INEGI), by spreading for the first time this indicator with a difference of less than three months.

Chihuahua exported goods worth US$14.5 billion from October to December last year, followed by Baja California (US$11.1 billion), Nuevo Leon (US$10.7 billion), Coahuila (US$10.6 billion) and Tamaulipas (US$7.3 billion). These five entities accounted for 52.9% of the country's total export value.

In the fourth quarter of 2018, Chihuahua presented a variation of 21.2%, followed by Nuevo Leon with a variation of 13.6%, Tamaulipas with 7.6%, while Baja California with 5.4% and Coahuila 1.1%.

Particularly the manufactures related to the automotive industry, computer and communication equipment, as well as the manufacture of machinery, participate with almost 70% of the value of exports made by the states in the fourth quarter of 2018 and states such as Coahuila, Chihuahua, Nuevo León and Tamaulipas, which contribute in a decisive way to the growth of these activities, stood out.
