CUERNAVACA Moral authorities are currently carrying out the necessary operations in order to reactivate The Cuernavaca airport "Mariano Matamoros", while looking for a connection between the state and the main cities of the country.

The head of Oficina de la Gubernatura, José Manuel Sanz Rivera, said in a statement that the airport will have an exclusive hangar for the operation of the School of Aviation Mexico.

"A school is going to be installed, but it does not mean that the Cuernavaca airport is going to become a school (...) we continue with the intention of turning it into a commercial airport which links Cuernavaca with the main cities of the Republic", clarified.

He mentioned that, in addition to the school, which will train a group of cadets within the "Airbus Pilot Cadet Training" program, talks with the VivaAerobus airline have taken place in order to attract private aviation; "We want the airport to operate 100%."

Sanz Rivera explained that, although there’s still not an authorization to become an alternate airstrip of Toluca or Mexico City airports, the commitment of carrying out commercial flights that connect the main cities of the country, is still there. He pointed out that the project to reactivate the Morelos air terminal is one of the commitments of the governor, Cuauhtémoc Blanco Bravo; said project seeks to detonate the progress and economic development of the state, always prioritizing the benefit of Morelos families.
