Chinese investment in Nuevo Leon increases

NUEVO LEON – China's investment in Nuevo León reached US$31 million in 2018, representing an increase of 842% compared to 2017 when US$3.3 million was raised.

Secretaría de Economía y Trabajo de Nuevo León (SEDET) reported that last year it received more than 25 business delegations from China, number that has increased during the last months, receiving an average of 1 to 2 Chinese companies per week.

SEDET pointed out as well, that although investments by Chinese businessmen represent 1% of the Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) captured in Nuevo Leon during 2018, the growth shows a favorable trend for the coming years, estimating that in 2019 the visits of Chinese delegations will be higher.

According to Registro Nacional de Inversiones Extranjeras de la Secretaría de Economía Federal, 28 Mexican companies operate in the entity supported by Chinese investment and many of them came to Nuevo León in the last few years.
