AIQ consolidates as the 3rd airport in cargo handling

QUERETARO — The Intercontinental Airport of Querétaro (AIQ) was consolidated as the third cargo handling airport surpassing the Monterrey airport, according to the first quarter of this year data from the General Directorate of Aeronautics (DGAC).

This, after closing with traffic of 5,016 tons accumulated during the period January-March 2019, which meant an increase of 42% compared to the 3,523 tons of the same period during 2018.

The first and second places go to the International Airport of Mexico City (AICM) and the International Airport of Guadalajara.

The Mexico City airport ended with 49,885 tons, being the most important for Mexico in terms of cargo, and whose result generated an increase of 8.5% compared to 45,959 tons of the previous year, according to the DGAC.

Meanwhile, Guadalajara closed the first quarter of the year with a volume of 14,515 tons, which however is a decrease of 9.1% compared to the previous year where the sum of the first quarter was 15,965 tons.

Finally, the 5th place goes to Toluca with a handling of 2,976 tons, an increase of 1.8% compared to the 2,923 of the previous year, according to the DGAC
